  • Painting and some gardening at Beacon High School

    Upcoming Dates

    05/02/2015

    10:00 AM - 03:00 PM

Walker transforms the lives of children and youth who are facing complex emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges, by partnering with these children and youth, their families, and communities to nurture hope, build strengths, and develop lifelong skills. Volunteers will be working with members of our Facilities staff on any/all projects listed below: * Paint hallway corridors * Paint Offices * Paint Office oors * Mulch around Beacon High School property (if weather permits). This necessary maintenance and upkeep to the interior of the school building will alleviate the workload for the Facilities team and re-energize the atmosphere for students and staff in the midst of the construction and spring completion of the Nancy C. Lincoln Center. This new multi-purpose center will further Walker’s vision for our Watertown campus to become a hub for therapeutic community services, as well as, mentoring and counseling programs for young adults across Massachusetts. Volunteers who are experienced in painting are especially encouraged, but non-painting volunteers are welcome to participate too! We suggest that the volunteers wear sneakers/clothes that may be stained due to paint. Volunteers are asked to commit to a 5-hour shift and should bring a brown-bag lunch – they will be able to have their lunch break in our cafeteria area. Upon arrival, volunteers should park and proceed to the front entrance of the school building located at the roundabout (the school building is teal with black shutters). Mary Howard, the Director of Beacon High School, will provide the volunteers with a brief overview of the organization upon their arrival at 10:00AM. Don’t forget to join us from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on May 2nd at the Arsenal Project for a kickoff breakfast and free T-shirt!
