    10:00 AM - 03:00 PM

The Watertown Housing Authority provides low income and affordable housing for the elderly and young disabled populations. The WHA is looking for volunteers to (1) remove heavy furniture, including a recliner, from 3 apartments and take them to the dumpster on our property, and (2) paint the chain link fence on the edge of our property. This will benefit tenants who are unable to move the furniture themselves, and will allow the WHA to have its fence match the other fences on the property. This will lift the spirits of the tenants, many of whom do not have friends or family who can help them, and will make the neighborhood more attractive. Volunteers are asked to come from 10 a.m. until whatever time works with your schedule. Moving furniture will probably take 20-25 minutes per apartment; painting the fence will probably take about 5-6 hours to finish, but the more volunteers, the quicker it will go. Please wear appropriate work clothing that you can get dirty. This activity is not appropriate for children, but teenagers who can work unsupervised are welcome. Breaks will be outside, but a community room is available inside for those who want to bring their lunch. Don’t forget to join us 8:30-9:30 a.m. on May 2nd at the Arsenal Project for a kickoff breakfast and free T-shirt!
