What we can do for you!
Become volunteers GiveBackTime is a public charity, organized and operating under federal code 501(c)(3). Our goal is to connect local non profit organizations with local volunteers.
Our Software For non profits, we provide a software toolkit for event management, volunteer tracking, and data gathering. Our site provides a simple and consistent way to find volunteers to fill your organization’s needs.
Your Impact For individuals, we provide a hub of volunteer opportunities tailored specifically to your interests and geographic area. Your served time will be verified and organized so you can directly see the impact you make in your community.
GiveBackTime was started in April of 2011 by Jared Blake as a project at Middlesex Community College. The project was the winner of a Campus Catalyst Grant given by the Merrimack Valley Sandbox Initiative. Over time, the initial idea for a volunteer forum has evolved into a comprehensive platform where volunteers and nonprofits can connect, collaborate, and celebrate volunteerism.
The GiveBackTime Team
Jared Blake (CEO)
Jared is the Youth Director at Saint Eulalia's Parish in Winchester. Jared started GiveBackTime.org in April of 2011 as part of the first campus catalyst project with The Sandbox Initiative in Lowell, MA. The idea came from a desire to create an easier way for people to volunteer and make a bigger impact in a legitimate way. He has spent the past 14 years volunteering all throughout the country and has participated in service trips overseas in Latin America and Asia with organizations like Group Workcamps, Catholic Heart Workcamps, Habitat for Humanity along with organizing trips himself. He is responsible for taking hundreds of teenagers from the Greater Boston area to places domestic and international alike, to work with the disabled, home-bound, marginalized, poor, and the homeless as well as volunteering time in orphanages.
Samantha (COO)
Samantha is an attorney licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She received her bachelors degree at Roger Williams University and attended law school at Suffolk University, where she graduated with a Distinction in International Law and received Pro Bono Honors. Prior to working with GiveBackTime, she practiced personal injury law in Southeastern Massachusetts. She has volunteered with Matthew 25, Horizons for Homeless Children, and Senior Partners for Justice and currently works with local organizations to complete and submit 501(c)(3), nonprofit applications. She became involved with GiveBackTime when she and Jared Blake bonded over the desire to build schools for children in other areas of the world.
