SMILES

SMILES’ school-based mentoring model helps close the educational development achievement gap. This evidence-based model matches adult mentors with at-risk youth in need of skills to help them advance and improve school performance. Utilizing a structured curriculum, weekly meetings engage mentees in outcome-based activities that target academic and social development.

Mission: The mission of the SouthCoast Mentoring Initiative for Learning, Education & Service (SMILES) program, an affiliate of People, Incorporated, is to formally establish meaningful relationships between children/youth and a trusting adult who will guide and inspire them toward maximizing their full potential—improving academic performance and personal growth.
