Guatemala Aid Fund
GAF is currently working towards a larger long term program to support continued education for the poorest and neediest children in Guatemala. Our programs focus on education and our partner programs incorporate the preservation of local indigenous culture and language by employing local people, supporting the local work force and supporting local culture and economy. In addition our partner programs focus on sustainable practices within their programs, and education including recycling programs, solar energy, water conservation and agriculture. GAF knows the program directors of each of our programs and visits regularly. 100% of all donations go directly to support programs. Thank you for considering GAF for your volunteer efforts.
Mission: Guatemala Aid fund is a 100% Volunteer organization dedicated to helping abandoned and orphaned children in Guatemala by supporting Guatemalan run sustainable programs that focus on housing, healthcare and education. The children we serve are among the neediest the world and without these programs education and even minimal health care would be virtually out of reach. According to the United Nations World Food Program, Guatemala has the fourth highest rate of chronic malnutrition in the world, with an estimated 49 percent of the children suffering from chronic malnutrition. All of the money raised by GAF is sent directly to the selected programs run by Guatemalans with which we have direct and regular contact. Our goal is to continue to not only keep the children alive and healthy, but to provide education to support their chances for employment and lifelong self-sufficiency. Funds can be specified for educational programs, as well as daily needs required for housing, food, clothing, medical expenses and psychological assistance. GAF currently provides direct donations to: The Fatima Home for Children; Luz de Maria Orphanage; among others. The specific locations for which donations are provided, and current or pending projects that we support are described on our website: www.guatemalaaidfund.org
